Yeovil Office – Full Time

We are seeking an experienced full time Legal Assistant/Legal Secretary to fulfil a role in our Dispute Resolution department at our Yeovil Office.


You must be able to demonstrate appropriate skills to meet this challenging role.You should have excellent communication, administration (including typing) and client facing skills alongside enviable experience of dealing with a multitude of tasks at the same time.  For those with a degree, the role could be an opening for a training contract. 


The Role:
You will be working in our Yeovil office as key support for the head of the Dispute Resolution team, as well as supporting the rest of the team with necessary administrative duties. It goes without saying that client awareness is essential whilst consistently delivering a firstclass service. The role may require travel to our other offices in Bridgwater and Taunton. 


Hours of work are between Monday to Friday 9:00am - 5:30pm.


The Candidate: The ideal candidate will have experience in a busy legal administrative role with an ability to work alone as required to get the job done and, in particular, have excellent typing skills (dictation). If possible, the successful applicant will also be a vehicle owner and hold a full driving licence.

Salary up to £60k DOE


An excellent opportunity for an experienced Solicitor/Legal Executive or Paralegal to join an established, busy and expanding team has arisen in the Yeovil Office of our Legal 500 Firm with 3 offices based across Somerset.


You will have a proven ability to work under your own initiative and continue to develop the business through wider networking and relationship building with new and existing clients. 3 years+ PQE required. 


You will need to demonstrate excellent communication, networking and client facing skills alongside an enviable experience of dealing with both day to day and complex cases. 


Client and commercial awareness is essential whilst consistently delivering a first class service.


The ideal candidate will have the ability to work alone as required to get the job done as well as in collaboration with other team members.

We are currently seeking a qualified Solicitor or experienced Legal Executive to join our growing Family Department on a permanent basis.


THE ROLE:


Based out of any of our offices, you will be required to deal with all aspects of privately funded family work under the supervision of the Head of Department, including divorce, financial settlement, TOLATA (not litigation), cohabitation agreements, pre and post nuptials, domestic abuse and private children law matters, You may also be required to attend and represent clients at court and attend clients at our other offices when necessary.

 

It would be helpful if you are familiar with Legal Aid (but not a necessity).

THE CANDIDATE:

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication, networking and client facing skills alongside an enviable experience of dealing with both day to day and complex cases including Wills and LPAs, both taxable and non-taxable Estates. Experience in trust matters, and Court of Protection matters would also be beneficial but is not essential.

It would be advantageous if applicants were accredited with Solicitors for the Elderly or

members of STEP (Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners). The firm would support training

at regular intervals to keep abreast of private client developments.

You will be self supportive, undertaking the majority of your own administration with some support provided locally or remotely as appropriate. It goes without saying client awareness is essential whilst consistently delivering a first-class service.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a busy Private Client fee earning role with an

ability to work autonomously as required to get the job done. Applicants who have practice of participating in the development of a department and using marketing and networking to achieve this are also desirable.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Compliance Office to support our COLP (Compliance Officer for Legal Practice).  You must have prior legal experience and be familiar with regulatory requirements.

 

This is a critical function and requires someone who is confident working on their own initiative and is comfortable communicating effectively with people at all levels of the Company.

 

THE ROLE:

  • To play a key role in the compliance of the Company.
  • To support/assist the COLP with all aspects of Risk and Compliance.
  • To support/assist the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO).
  • To update and monitor the Company’s Office Manual including all compliance policies and procedures.
  • To assist with complaints and claims.
  • To act as first point of call for staff compliance queries.
  • To administer, update and train staff on the Company’s compliance platform (Riliance).
  • Organise Monthly Risk and Compliance meetings and prepare agenda and take, type and circulate minutes.
  • Produce monthly and Annual Compliance reports and collate any other relevant information.

THE CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate will be/have:

  • Legal experience.
  • An excellent understanding of the SRA rules.
  • A self-starter and able to work independently.
  • Able to demonstrate competence and take responsibility.
